According to Islamic chronicles , this city was given its present name , Babol , and Mamatir and Barforushdeh , in the Islamic period , prior to which it was called Mah-Mithra , the abod of the great Mithra .
Babol Museum (former city hall ): Registration No : 1526
Located on Modarress Avenue in babol , it was built in 1928 and used as the city hall . In 1995 , it was under the authority of the Cultural Heritage Office of Mazandaran . After its restoration , it was inaugurated as the Babol Museum in 1995 . the museum has archaeological (pre-historic , historic , Islamic ) , ethnological and handicrafs section .
Saqanefar Kija Tekieh :
Saqanefar are monuments used for religious ceremonies in Mazandaran . Located in Hamzehkola , in Babol , Kija Tekieh is one of the most beautiful Saqanefars in Mazandaran . It is a two-story-high construction with engraved wooden pillars and painting depicting parts of some legendary stories , vegetal , human and animal patterns , genre scenes , several poems of Mohtasham Kashani and inscriptions bearing the names of its builders and its construction date : 1306 AH , Qajar period .
